All too often a driveway will be left unattended to maintenance for some time and gradually and insidiously algae, moss, mould, mildew and lichen, not forgetting the pesky weeds are covering the ground. Warily to walk from the front door to the car becomes an ordeal. Imagine if you are older and more fragile slipping over. All because of not keeping the driveway clean of organic growth.

Keeping a weed free zone to my drive will always make for an advantage. Weeds grow stronger and larger and slowly dislodge blocks from block paving, increase the cracking in tarmac. Keeping the weeds at bay will significantly reduce these problems from occurring.

We have so far focused when walking outside of our home to the car. Now let’s turn that around and walk from the car to our property. Some have claimed that organic growth found on the driveway can release tiny spores into the air and cause respiratory irritations affecting particularly asthmatics and hay fever sufferers. Whether this is scientifically true or not, it can be prudent to keep a clean driveway for a healthier family.

Seeing what is going on around our property doesn’t make us ‘control freaks’ but does make us responsible people. We do this for fire risks, security risks, pest risks and for maintenance problems. Keeping a clean and tidy driveway means we will be able to see sooner the forming of cracks on the ground of the driveway and rectify it sooner in order to reduce repair costs and keep a good-looking property.

Well it should be a logical understanding that a clean property is a more desirable property. If you are thinking of selling or have pride in your home then keeping your driveway clean is a ‘Must’. Friends, family and visitors will first notice your front garden and driveway. For sellers we call this the ‘curb’ appearance. Your property will have 100% certainty of standing out above the rest with a cleaner, well maintained driveway.
